It is also amazing about the new connections and friendships that can start with perfect strangers that start a conversation on twitter.

A main goals of many of Twitters users is to expand their audience and to gain as many followers as they can. One of the best way s to do this is to be retweeted.

First off, in case you are unfamiliar with how to retweet, it is simple. For example, if you were going to retweet a message of mine you would type, “RT @jeffwend then the message.”

Being retweeted will greatly expand your audience and will help to pick up new followers. Here I would like to share some effective methods for being retweeted and expanding your audience.

  1. Try to have a lot of active twitter followers. The more followers you have, the more people that will see your message to retweet you.
  2. Stay on topic. If you use Twitter to promote your business or use it most often for a specific niche, use the buzz words of that niche. When applicable, also incorporate the popular hash tags of the day and this can greatly expand the reach of your tweet.
  3. Use hash tags when you can. Using the #hash tag helps to quickly let other people know what your message is about.
  4. Use famous quotes. People like famous quotes from historical figures, motivational speakers or great leaders. For whatever reason, people love to retweet famous quotes.
  5. Probably most importantly, don’t forget to retweet others. People love to see that they are retweeted, so use it as a complement to good tweets.
