Google Me Business Card

Who Needs A Business Card When There Is Google?

What a great business card this is. Ji Lee is the creative director of Google Creative Lab in NY. While this may seem like it is just a catchy looking card, it is much more powerful than that.

What do you find when you Google search your name? Are there results good, bad or nothing at all? For most people you may find at least a Facebook page. This Google Me business card is a great idea for a lot of people.

How much information can you really fit about yourself on a business card? If someone goes to Google and does a search for your name, what would you like for them to find? If you are like me and work as an SEO and Internet Marketer, you can expect to find a LinkedIn Page, Facebook page, Twitter account and other online sources that showcase some of my writing or other work.

So if you are looking for a job or are just looking to better brand yourself, make sure that what you find when you do a Google search is both positive and accurate.

If you have not already done so, the first thing to do is create an account at LinkedIn. There you can basically post an online resume. For your Facebook account, make sure that there is nothing that you would not want your parents, clients, colleagues or potential employers to find. Twitter is another great resource to help to build your brand and help to put your name on the Web.

Another great way to get your name out there is to blog. There are several free platforms like Blogger, TypePad, Tumblr and WordPress where you can easily get a blog started in minutes. Consider trying to buy the domain name with your full name so that you can keep that for life as a way to promote your own personal brand.

There are of course many other ways that you can get your name out there on the Web, but these steps alone will do wonders for helping to make sure that when someone searches your name on Google, they find good information about you and the work that you do.

So go ahead, Google yourself. If you are not happy with what shows up on the first page of Google, take this time to do something about it and start building your brand today.
